Ice Cream Cone House - Memorial Day

The "Mom" Banner has been replaced with a "Remember" banner that reads, 'All gave some ~ Some gave all'.  A weapon, like an M76 with a soldier's helmet on it was also added.

All topped off with an American flag kite.

Happy Memorial Day

When I was a youngster, the last Monday in May was always the day that hailed the beginning of summer break.  Memorial Day conjures up memories of the opening of public swimming pools, picnics, parades and going to the cemetery to put flowers and American flags on graves of the brave men and women who lost their lives fighting for our country's freedom.

That is the real meaning of Memorial Day.  It's the day we give tribute to the fallen.

In Flanders Fields

by John McCrae

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die.

We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

The Ice Cream Cone House

There's a house in Corpus that my friend Karen and I call the Ice Cream Cone House.

This is  why...

This was the first sighting.  My guess is it's decorated for an anniversary or maybe just announcing to the world that Jessica and Clay are a hot item.  It looks as if the cone is made out of fiberglass or wood.  Who knows...

Here are other sightings with the cone decorated for different seasons and occasions.  It's very interestink (said in my best imitation of Wolfgang the German soldier from Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In).  Am curious to know what their neighbors think of this.

Celebrating Halloween as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West

It's a little hard to see but there is a bunny painted in the middle for Easter and around the base of the "soft serve" are Shamrocks, for St. Patrick's Day

Cinco de Mayo.  This cracks me up

Mother's Day

Should be a new one right around the corner, possibly with a patriotic theme??
